Worst Natural Disaster in Pakistan's History Nearly 14 Million Affected by Floods

As most of you are already aware, heavy monsoon rains have triggered flooding that has left over 1,500 dead while countless are unaccounted for in Pakistan.

Millions of homes in thousands of villages and towns across the country have been destroyed. According to UN reports, over 14 Million people have been affected by this disaster. Infrastructure such as power stations, roads, bridges, schools, agriculture wells, and drinking water hand pumps have been severely damaged or destroyed. Millions more are at risk from disease and further flooding.

The OPEN Houston community has stepped up to help in the past when calamities struck Pakistan, including the Earthquakes in 2005 and 2007.

Consider this an urgent appeal for much needed support to the flood victims of Pakistan. The need is immediate and severe.

We request all members of the community to donate generously to any one or more of the following Non- Profit Organizations that are providing excellent relief work on the ground.

Charity Donation Matching Programs at Your Company

Contact your Human Resource Representative Today

Another aspect of charity that can be overlooked is that companies and organizations have charity donation matching programs. If you are part of an organization or a company that has such a matching program, it is highly recommended that you reach out to your Human Resource department and ask your contact there about such a program. In some cases, companies do a 1-1 match which can potentially result in doubling of the original amount.

In Closing...

OPEN Houston is an organization of and for entrepreneurs and professionals and our primary goal remains that of enhancing the business skills of our members and the community at large, however, the events in Pakistan have caused devastation at such a massive scale that OPEN Houston Executive and Operations Committee felt compelled to appeal to you and your generosity.

No amount is too small and the earlier it gets to the millions who have literally seen their lives washed away over the past few days, the better.

Please give now and give generously!
