Worst Natural Disaster in Pakistan's History Nearly 14 Million Affected by Floods
As most of you are already aware, heavy monsoon rains have triggered flooding that has left over 1,500 dead while countless are unaccounted for in Pakistan.
Millions of homes in thousands of villages and towns across the country have been destroyed. According to UN reports, over 14 Million people have been affected by this disaster. Infrastructure such as power stations, roads, bridges, schools, agriculture wells, and drinking water hand pumps have been severely damaged or destroyed. Millions more are at risk from disease and further flooding.
The OPEN Houston community has stepped up to help in the past when calamities struck Pakistan, including the Earthquakes in 2005 and 2007.
Consider this an urgent appeal for much needed support to the flood victims of Pakistan. The need is immediate and severe.
